The choral work Tales of Old Town was commissioned by the Marple Newtown High School Choir. It was inspired by an old Estonian proverb: “What we keep to ourselves withers and dies, but what we put out into the world grows and multiplies.” As the movements progress, there is a gradual shift from selfishness to altruism, reflected in both the words and the music. One Last Seed, the final movement, tells the story of what can happen through generosity and altruism.
